Oklahoma School for the Deaf’s Fall Festival

The community is invited to participate in the Oklahoma School for the Deaf’s annual Fall Festival on Tuesday, October 30, featuring free trick-or-treating, hayrides and other seasonal activities.

OSD’s Little Village, located on the east side of campus at 1100 East Oklahoma Avenue in Sulphur, will be the setting for trick-or-treating from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m.

This permanent learning experience has 12 structures, including a school, store, bank and chicken coop with a rooster and hens.

“We are proud for members of the community to visit OSD’s Little Village and grateful to local businesses who have supported the building, repair and expansion of this interactive educational experience,” Superintendent Larry Hawkins said. “Our goal is to combine play with opportunities for students learn more about business, government and society.

Students and staff will decorate the courtyards in front of each building.

Carnival games and concessions will be available from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a Spook House for the bravest among the crowd from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. OSD organizations will charge reasonable fees for these activities to help fund their programs.

Seek the World

This event is FREE to everyone! It is open to students only at noon and then public at 7 p.m. on the same day. The presentation will be at Oklahoma School for the Deaf auditorium. For public, the doors will be open at 6:30 p.m. There will be also a meet and greet with Calvin afterwards.

Here's a short background information on the presenter:

Calvin Young, the founder of Seek the World, will share his experiences of traveling around the world. He has been to 38 countries on 3 different continents. 

While traveling, Calvin does not only capture the beauty of nature through photography and videos but he captures the culture of Deaf and hard of hearing people in different countries. Calvin often makes videos of different sign language from different countries.

Homecoming Social is baaack! Hosted by OAD and Big Green. (OSD Athletic Assoc.) Say you will come! Come watch/support the Indians and social after! (Schedule on flyer posted in discussion)

They will have pizza combos and bbq brisket combos amd snacks for people to eat after the games. Door prizes will be drawn! Please eat with us!

Combos will be $6.00 with drink and chips. Gate fee: $6.00 early bird and will be sold AT game. $8.00 at door. Open till 2am! Map for location will be posted in discussion area. This year is at Murray County Antique Tractor Show. North of Sulphur on 177. (Not Expo) 

Funds will benefit OAD General Fund and OSD Athletics Department.
