SSP Training/Refresher Workshop

SSPs are the eyes and ears for the DeafBlind community and they help encourage independence that may be difficult without the resources the DB community need. SSPs provide environmental information to DeafBlind so that the bigger picture is given and that short exchange communication is understood.

SSP work very flexible and you work when you are available and when a DB requests that service.

This Friday, April 20, 2018, we will be having a game night from 6p.m. - 9p.m. at OSU-OKC Student Center on the 2nd floor. It is located right across from the book store. That area is known as the Hub or the cafeteria. There will be a few games of Bingo then chat and enjoy any other games that are brought. It is also a potluck, so if anyone who is coming wants to bring food, our theme is BBQ.

March For Our Lives

At noon on Saturday, March 24, we will be marching from the County Election Board to the Oklahoma Capitol Building in unity with the victims of the Marjory Douglas Stoneman High School victims. We are done waiting for change- we are making it happen. We are demanding that our lawmakers pass legislation that will keep our schools safe. Our march is organized by and led by students from across the state and their allies, and we are supported by Oklahoma Women’s March, March on Oklahoma, and several other groups.

Let our thankfulness be known to be thankful for being with loved ones and good friends as well as thankful for everything we have and will have.

If you are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, special activities are abound during the 12th Annual Oklahoma State Fair Deaf Awareness Day (or known as DAD) on Thursday, September 21. At designated times throughout the day many Fair shows will be interpreted.

Deaf Awareness Day Schedule (COMING SOON)

Starting at 10 a.m., plan to make your way to the south end of the Modern Living Building where you can enjoy entertainment by Deaf and Hard of Hearing performers and guest speakers. There will be several Deaf organizations and Deaf vendors offering valuable information, resources, networking opportunities, and arts and crafts. You won’t want to miss this fun-filled day at the Oklahoma State Fair.
