People with Disability Awareness Day (PWDAD)

People with Disability Awareness Day (PWDAD)

Whether it's for employment or independence Oklahomans deserve access for all. This year starting at 11 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the state Capitol, we are asking people with disabilities, friends, families and Legislators to be front and center when it comes to disability initiatives. Together we can bring an end to access-related barriers for people with disabilities.

This event is an opportunity to engage lawmakers and help them understand what programs are vital to reach these goals.

You have a better chance of talking to your Legislator in person if you call to make an appointment at least two weeks before Awareness Day. Find out who your Legislators are at https://go.usa.gov/xRtqC.

Or call to make an appointment: Senate: 405-524-0126 or House of Representatives: 800-522-8502.

Remember: the Legislator's job is to be in committee meetings or on the floor of the Senate or House of Representatives when state business is being conducted. If your Legislator is not in the office, please give your message to the staff. Legislators depend heavily on their staff and often receive information this way.

Our march is organized by and led by students from across the state and their allies, and we are supported by Oklahoma Women’s March, March on Oklahoma, and several other groups.
