SSP = Service Support Provider, Volunteer and internship opportunities, which  includes Grant Writing, Project Management and Social Media opportunities.

We offer SSP Certification

SSP’s can earn 10.00 to 15.00 per hour depending upon certification level, all mileage paid.

Training Dates – January 13th 8:30am – 3:30p,

Jan 14th 10:30am -2:30pm

Virtual training available for January 13th at Careers — Sight-Hearing Encouragement Program (shep-ok.org)

January 14th is mandatory to be done in person at the above facility.

Support Service Providers (SSP’s) are specially trained individuals that provide deaf/blind individuals with visual and environmental information, sighted guide services, and communication accessibility. SSP’s make It possible for people with vision and hearing losses to function as an independent person.

Example of SSP Duties

1, Provides access to the community by making transportation available by (car, bus, or other conveyance} and serves as a human guide while walking.

2. Interpret/Summarize phone calls for – VP or voice calls

3. Provide visual and environmental information such as: describing who is in a room, the activity and mood: reading the menu if not legible and voicing/interpreting that to the person who is deaf-blind, or locating food items in a grocery store.

4. Provide support to individuals who are deaf-blind in their homes, place of employment, in their own community or elsewhere.

SSP registration for students $25, for all others $35, includes classroom/Virtual class access and in person training.
